“Lands End” by Tone-Lill

I have another layout to share with you that has been created by Tone-Lill. Very bright and colourful with lots of layering. With all of Tone-Lill’s work – the more you look the more you see!

tl1

The base is Kraft card which has been masked, sprayed, gessoed and altered!

Have a look at this corner. A piece of patterned paper, over stamped with a mask, and then sprayed for some sparkle. Plus Tim Holtz tickets, flowers and beads – a very pretty embellished corner:

tl2

Lots of texture from masking, then adding gesso and then clear crackle on top. The brick wall has been embossed and inked with crackle on top:

tl3

Tone-Lill has sprayed some plain gauze with her Dylusions sprays to colour it bright orange and added beads, flowers and hand cut pennants, plus little charms!

tl4

So – definitely never throw anything away as it might find a home on one of your pages!  If you would like a closer look at this page it is on display in the craft room with several other pages created by Tone-Lill.

“The Best Ride” by Natalie

Natalie Rowland is the second person to complete the optional challenge of scrap lifting Pat’s layout of “Aunt Ivy”.

Angela Styles has also completed a layout but I will share that with you when I get some nice clear photos. Angela has made a beautiful vintage layout.

Natalie has cleverly used the design but given it a totally modern twist to suit her family photo:

nr1

Rather than a cluster of flowers Natalie has used some bright buttons. I love all the the bright colours and patterns Natalie has used.

nr2

Natalie cut her hexagons using the cricut machine, and used the computer to directly print her journaling onto one of them:

nr3

This was Pat’s original layout as a quick reminder. You can see how Natlaie has used it for her inspiration:

Well done to both Angela and Natalie for so quickly completing the scrap club challenge. The final session of scrap club for this month  is on Monday evening 13th May.

“My Grandpa”

I’m sharing a layout today that has lots of special memories for me. My grandpa died when I was 35 so I was very fortunate to have had his influence in my life for a long time.

This page came together very quickly as I had lots of bits and pieces left over from my scrap club layouts.

g1

This photo was taken at my nephews Christening and Grandpa had taken the service. Afterwards he had grabbed my hat and started wearing it – he had a great sense of humour.

The blue background patterned paper is by Prima. I have used a mask and some brown ink on top to create more pattern and texture. The brown layer is 8″ square and I have made it into a pocket for my journaling.

g2

None of my grandparents were still alive when my daughters were born so I have included a large pull out tag as there will be lots of memories and information I want to include, which I hope my daughters will value when they are my age!

g3

I used a combination of Hero Arts die cut letters and a small printed strip for my title:

g4

The typewriter and pen nib remind me of grandpa sitting in his study writing his sermons. The die cut chicken wire adds another layer of interest. I inked the cream die cut leaves with brown ink:

g5

The ruler is a reminder of his engineering background, and the scale model trains that he made. Grandpa build a track all around the garden and on “steam up” days the trains pulled carriages that we sat on for a proper train ride!

g6

Scrapbooking means different things to us all. For some it is an personal art form where colours, textures and techniques can be explored. But for me using my photographs, and reliving and capturing memories remains the main force of why I scrapbook.

I hope my layout inspires you to create a similar page as my grandpa inspired me during my childhood and throughout my adult life.

Artistic & Amazing Creations

I have some amazing layouts to share with you which are very different and use Dylusions Ink sprays for background colour. These three layouts have all been created by Tone-Lill, a norwegian scrapbooker living locally.

Tone-Lill tends to use white or kraft card for her base, and then builds her backgrounds with ink, gesso, and lots of layers of embellishments.

t1

This layout also has multi coloured stamping (a stamp from the Inkadinkadoo Stamping Gear but used just by itself).

t2

The scarecrow has been cut from Graphic 45 patterned paper:

t3

The banner is die cut using the Tim Holtz Tattered Banners die:

t4

Tone-Lill has created an explosion of colour and movement behind her photo on this layout.

t5

The background and flowers have been sprayed with the Dylusion ink sprays.

t6

I love all the little details:

t7

This third layout has a very artistic feel to it. The sprays create a very high impact focal point:

t8

You can see the texture that has been created by inking and then using gesso on top but applied through a mask.

t9

If you would like to see more of Tone-Lills work you can have a look at her blog:

I will have some more of her layouts to share during the coming week. Its brilliant to see such a different style of work, and if you would like to have a closer look Tone-Lill has kindly loaned me eight layouts which are on display in the craft room.

“SEW” by Fiona

Fiona Walker has not been scrapbooking long and comes to our Saturday afternoon session of scrap club. Fiona has made a wonderful layout as a tribute to her mum. Fiona’s mum loved sewing so Fiona has gathered together lots of sewing related items for her page.

sew1

I love the way Fiona has incorporated the real zip – and isn’t that little bow made from ruler ribbon cute. The mix of real sewing items, plus scrap booking embellishments has worked beautifully together.

sew-2

Fiona was not able to find an actual photo of her mum at her sewing machine but has added an embellishment as a lovely reminder. Notice the real stitching Fiona has added too::

sew-3

Fiona’s journaling pulls out from behind her title:

sew-4

What a lovely page Fiona has made.  I think this would be perfect for framing so that happy memories are on show and can be shared.

Thanks for sharing it with us Fiona. This is a really clever page.

“Aunty Ivy” by Pat

As promised, here is the vintage themed layout made by our Pat which is this months scrap club optional challenge. Have a go at scrap lifting Pat’s design!

Have a look at all the different elements:

Repeated hexagon shapes which Pat hand cut!

ivy-1

A cluster of butterflies in the top right corner:

ivy-2

A small embellishment of a tag and fancy button in the top left corner:

ivy-3

Lots of stitching, both real and faux:

ivy-4

A pull out journaling tag:

ivy-5

Strips of washi tape:

ivy-7

A cluster of blossoms and antique buttons:

ivy-8

So – lots of different details to be inspired by and to include on your creations. Remember a scraplift does not have to be a copy – it is a starting point for your own creation!

Thanks Pat for getting us started….

“Happy Days” by Vicki

I have a fantastic layout to share today that has been created by Vicki Ball for our optional scrap club challenge.  The photo is Vicki’s dad, and Vicki has included lots of the elements from April scrap club.

happy-1

Love the circular photo mat, and the button flowers:

happy4

The tags radiant from the centre, and Vicki has cut her title in the same colour card as her background but used a fine liner to outline the letters as we did in class:

happy5

Vicki has stitched a frame around all four sides of her page:

happy6

And added ink spots and “confetti” with tiny gems:

happy-2

Vicki has punched tabs for her journaling tags so all the design elements have been included.

happy-3

Love your take on the design Vicki, and I especially love the soft colours you have used. Great work, and thanks for sharing.

“Our Sunshine” by Heidi

Heidi Schleimer has made her optional layout for our scrap club challenge. All the patterned paper is from Doodlebug. Heidi has moved the strips from the original design so they look like rays of sunshine. The title is on the circular “sun”.

sunshine-1

Heidi has added some pretty flowers die cut using her Cheery Lyn dies. I love the way that they have been shaped and gently coloured with ink for extra definition. The leaves and swirl have been cut from co-ordinating patterned paper.

sunshine-2

Heidi has also used some cut outs from the Simple Stories baby collection to add a sub title:sunshine-3

The little cut out journaling card is perfect for some hand written journaling:

sunshine-4

What a sweet page, and what a sweet little granddaughter Heidi has.

Custard Cream Anyone?

I am sharing a really fun scrap lift that has been done by Mary, our Saturday girl. I think this is brilliant with some clever techniques.

mary-1

This file folder at the top of the page tells the start of the story…

mary-2

…and this journaling block completes the story behind the photo.

mary-3

Mary has sprayed the new Dylusions ink through sequin waste to create the pattern. The tea pot has been cut from patterned paper (Bo Bunny). Mary happened to have the same collection pack that was used on the page she scrap lifted.

mary-4

Mary has cut closely around her photo and placed it behind cut out paper embellishments.

mary-5

The custard cream embellishment has been hand made by Mary using the technique learnt at card club last December when we used Magic Stamp.

mary-6

Mary used her Magic Stamp and after heating it stamped into this real custard cream to create the pattern. Mary then inked it and stamped onto card with distress inks to recreate the pattern. Mary then ate the biscuit so nothing was wasted!

mary-7

This is the page from the Scrap 365 magazine that Mary has scrap lifted!

mary-8

Scrap 365 always has leading edge layouts to inspire and are great for copying either in their entirety, or just elements that you like. I think that Mary has done a fantastic job on her page…and will be very proud of it when she looks through her album in future years.

Blessed

I thought I would share my latest layout that I have made to frame. Sarah took the photo of my great niece  Laila, now aged 4 months old, on Easter Monday.

I love the cute expression on her little face, and I like the way my husband, who is holding her, just peaks out from behind.

blessed-1

I have used patterned paper for my background from the new Prima Fairy Wishes collection. The quote is a Stampendous cling stamp.

blessed-2

I used one of the Bingo cards left over from last months scrap club for my title. I used a large die cut doily, and a crystal stickpin tied with tulle for extra interest.

blessed-3

I had lots of left over flowers from last months card club so have included as many as possible. As this is to be framed I wanted to create lots of dimension.

blessed-4

I have used lots of different Cheery Lyn Build a flower dies. The page idea came from one that I saw on the Cheery Lyn blog. It was so beautiful I decided to have a go and make one for myself.

blessed-5

The little humming birds, the ladybird, the dragonflies and the bee are all die cut using a Cheery Lyn die.

blessed-6

I added a metal key tied with tulle, and there is a lot of hand stitching all around the four sides of the patterned paper.

blessed-7

I have layered lots of elements like this mega flourish and honeycomb die. I have used the Queen Anne’s Lace die for the lace peeping out from behind the distressed edges of the patterned paper.

blessed-8

The lace die cuts as an 8″ strip so I used the other flatter side behind my photo mat to give the appearance of a lace edge.

blessed-9

Every time I look at that sweet little face I just smile!

Here is the finished layout again:

blessed-1

I am really pleased with how this turned out.  Although it did take a bit of time to put together  it certainly wasn’t difficult. If you would like a closer look it is hanging near the till at the craft centre for the moment.
