Happy Birthday Susanne!

Saturday 19th May is a special day for Susanne - as it is her birthday!

So I thought I would share her birthday card with you before she opens it …

hb1.jpg

I have used the same design and techniques from this months card club but made a cute card instead.

hb-2.jpg

Everything started as white card, and has been coloured with distress inks and then die cut or stamped. I have used two of the new seasonal Tim Holtz colours - Shaded Lilac and Peacock Feather  - which are just so pretty.

hb3.jpg

I used a combination of distress inks for the background, and Promarkers to colour Warren in with.

 hb4.jpg

I hope Susanne likes her card - and has a wonderful day!

A Perfect Present Delivered!

Mothers Day in Europe and the USA was this Sunday - and this “Perfect Pressie” was ordered for Heidi from Germany  by her two sons…

Heidi was very happy with her gorgeous new tote gag. And what a pair of thoughtful sons she has!

This Month at Card Club…

you will be making two different cards and will learn how to:

* layer a stamped flower image using dies.

* create a tone on tone background using distress inks

*create borders without necessarily using border stamps

* create a button twine bundle to embellish your cards

* create unique shaped easel cards using the partial cut technique

* add extra interest to sentiments with a layered tag.

* adapt the ideas to the stamps and products you already own.

Each table block will have it’s own sample cards, with the appropriate flower image, dies, and background stamps. This means that by the end of the class you will be able to see how the designs and techniques work using a wide variety of products.

Here are the sample cards for this month:

 cc-set-2.jpg

cc-set-4.jpg

Please bring to class your preferred colouring medium (coloured pencils, markers, Promarkers etc)

You may also like to bring any of the following (although this is not essential)

Manual die cutting machine e.g Big Shot, Cuttlebug, Grande Calibur

A non stick craft sheet

Spellbinders Nestability Die sets

Places are still available on some sessions so if you would like to join the class please email or call us.

Stash Busters - “Sarah’s Cards”

Our Sunday Girl Sarah made these card samples for Stash Busters using scraps. I thought they were really lovely and great for using up bits and pieces.

 sarahs-cards-for-stash-bus.jpg

Lots of you also liked the idea so here are some lovely cards that have been made based on this design.

These first two are by our Carolyn. The bird image is a Tim Holtz stamp (of course!)

 sb-sc-carolyns-bird.jpg

Carolyn has put a soft vintage twist onto the design, with lots of distressed and inked edges. This little stamp was a freebie on the Craft Stamper Magazine (last month I think)

 sb-sc-carolyns-flower.jpg

Jenny has created a striking Bee card. The colours are just perfect!

sb-sc-jenny-bees.jpg

And this is the little Twinchie stamp that Jenny used:

 sb-bee-twinchie.jpg

Forgive me if I have got this wrong, but I think this pretty card made at Stash Busters, was also by Jenny. The butterflies are from the Hero Arts/Sizzex stamp and die set.

sb-sc-jenny-1.jpg

Linda Brewis has made this lovely card. The daisy image is a Hero Arts cling stamp (it comes in a set of two). I like the way that Linda has matched her patterned candi to her paper and colours.

 sb-sc-linda-2.jpg

This was a second card by Linda. The beautiful dogwood flower image is from the same set as the butterflies that Jenny used. Linda has used the direct colouring technique on her stamp using markers to create this lovely effect.

sb-sc-linda-brewis.jpg

And finally another Hero Arts flower image. This is from a clear stamp set. Susanne has made this card and I like the way she has coloured her flower to match her scrap of patterned paper so perfectly.

sb-sc-susanne.jpg

The shapes has been made with a Spellbinders Nestability Labels One die set, and the card base is a 6″x6″ piece of coloured card that is simple folded in half. Very economical.

Thanks Sarah for the inspiration (and yes, Sarah is my daughter!)

Stash Busters Ribbon Cards

I have already shared this elephant card. A simple design that uses up scraps of ribbon and patterned paper.

 sb-ribbon-card-3.jpg

Here is my little line of birds (from a Hero Arts set). I’ve coloured the image to match the patterned paper i’m using:

sb-ribbon-card-1.jpg

Here is another sample, again using a Hero Arts stamp:

sb-ribbon-card-2.jpg

This card was made by Maretta Dowman at stash busters. I like how she has coloured the little birds. The card is very fresh and spring like:

sb-ribbon-maretta.jpg

This card has been made by Jeanette Thompson. I like the way the Jeanette has kept the colour scheme monochromatic and the added sentiment banner (Woodware stamp set)

 sb-ribbon-jeanette.jpg

This lovely card has been made by Jane Towse, who actually made two similar cards. Jane has matched her colouring really well to her patterned papers.

 sb-ribbon-jane-towse.jpg

I have yet more ideas and inspiration to share…

Inspired By Stash Busters - A Christmas Card!

Jeanette Thompson has risen to my challenge and created a Christmas card using our vintage postcard card idea from Stash Busters!

Jeanette has used some Teresa Collins patterned paper that she had left over from the December scrap club, and added some punched holly and berries for decoration. I like the way Jeanette has also added stamped snowflakes too.

 sb-xmas-card.jpg

Jeanette has used a Wild Rose Studio stamp for her Postcard wording and franked stamp. The clear stamp also has the word “Valentine” on it, but Jeanette just omitted to ink that part of the image.

 sb-xmas-card-close-up.jpg

Great work Jeanette! I have more projects to share inspired by Stash Busters tomorrow…

Red, White & Blue Card Challenge for May

Here are two more cards to share for our May challenge using the colours red, white and blue. I am sending photos of both of these to Woodware as Julie and Liz have used Woodware products on their cards, so will be eligable for their draw too!

This first card has been made by Julie Staves and is very striking.  Julie has used the Woodware Singles Thanks stamp, candi, and the Woodware singles Grasses stamp (just the border from the set) in the background. I like that hand cut bunting. Very clever.

woodware-chal-julie-staves.jpg

This lovely bright and pretty card has been made by Liz Reid. Liz has again used a Woodware singles clear stamp, plus lots of Woodware punches for the flowers, leaves and the butterfly!

woodware-chal-liz-reid.jpg

Have a close up look at these flowers. Liz has used three sizes of daisy punch, candi in the centre and a Mark Richards glass gem in the centre. Really pretty. The leaf punch is by Woodware too. Well done Liz for using so many Woodware products on the one card!

woddware-chal-liz-reid-clos.jpg

Hope you will have a go and make a card for the challenge too…

New - Little Clare Inspiration!

We have new stamps by Little Clare in stock, including their brand new Loverly Jubberly sets. Here are three cards sent to us with our order using the new sets for inspiration.

This first one is very patriotic!

 lc-1.jpg

This is a  lovely card for a little boy and makes good use of some nice patterned paper:

lc-2.jpg

I like the way that the colours have been limited on this card, and those large corners are a nice finish:

lc-3.jpg

The Loverly Jubblies images are very sweet!

new-lc-4.jpg

This new Bunting set is going to be very useful and popular I think!

new-lc-1.jpg

Love this Changing Tree design - a very clever design that can be stamped in lots of different ways!

 new-lc-3.jpg

We have also restocked on some of the existing designs:

 new-lc-2.jpg

Including that sweet line of elephants “Are We There Yet?” that I used for this ribbon card from Stash Busters!

 sb-ribbon-elephants.jpg

Hope the cards have given you some ideas for your own…we would love to see what you make.
